Welcome to Sunday Scribbles! The part of the blog where I share a writing prompt to close out your week. Today I’ve got my ancestors on my mind:
Ancestral tracing is one of my favorite forms of storytelling. It contextualizes how I got here and informs how I can show up better in the world today.
Lately I’ve felt more connected to my Sicilian ancestors through plant work and through older political traditions from that region. Since learning their histories, I’ve ended up on new paths and stumbled into some new communities.
Sometimes when I’m stuck, I imagine what my great-grandmother might say to me and feel comforted by her presence in my heart.
Is there a family member you wish you could talk to right now?
Pick an ancestor you wish you knew more about, whether or not you knew them.
Write down everything you Know about them.
Now everything you Think you know.
And everything you Wish you knew.
Ask them a Question.
Write down their Response.
Happy Scribbling!
