Michael & Sophie

Brooklyn Grange
Sunset Park, Brooklyn

We're doing a wedding!

On May 25, 2024, Sophie pulled a fast one on Michael and asked him to marry her, despite insinuating for months that she "wasn't quite ready yet." (She was lying.)

Despite Sophie's deflections, Michael was nonetheless in the early stages of planning an elaborate proposal, but was beaten to the punch on a holiday that started with him saying, "Don't worry darling I didn't bring a ring…"

Exactly one year later, on May 25, 2025, we'll be making it official in the city we met in, live in, and have built a community in.

We would love to have you join us as we celebrate our time together thus far and the future we hope to build with each other. All of you have have played such an important role in our lives — we can't wait to share this day with you.

See you in Brooklyn on 5.25.25 at 5PM!

For those who can make it, we'll be setting up bagels in Fort Greene Park, weather depending. If it rains, we may have to move to an indoor location, so we'll update you closer to the date if this is a risk.

FAQs

Are the ceremony and reception at the same location?

How do I get to the wedding venue?

What should I wear?

What time should we arrive?

Are children and plus-ones invited?

Yes! The ceremony will be outside under a large gazebo, the cocktail reception will be outside under the sun (there's some shade on the porch), and dinner and dancing will be inside. If it rains, we'll move the whole event inside.

First of all, make sure you're heading to the Sunset Park location, not the Brooklyn Navy Yard location. The venue is located at 850 Third Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11232. The cross-street is 31st Street, and the evening will all take place on the roof.

The nearest subway trains are the N, R,  or D at 36th Street. If you have a car, street parking and paid parking garages are available nearby. Unfortunately the parking lot in front of the venue is reserved for retail businesses.

When you arrive at the address, follow the sidewalk along the parking lot and enter the last sliding doors to the elevator lobby (under the "Liberty Brooklyn" sign).

Once you arrive, follow signs to the elevator and come all the way up to the roof!

Go for cocktail attire. Think suit and tie or cocktail dress or fancy jumpsuit, but keep it fun and comfortable.

The walkable areas of the rooftop farm are all paved with stone, so you'll be fine in heels. But we will be having a ceilidh (barn dance), so bring a comfortable pair of shoes to change into if you want to join in! (You should totally join in.)

There's some shade on the porch and the ceremony will be under a gazebo, but the cocktail reception will be outside under the sun, so if you're sensitive to heat or sun, you may do well to bring a hat with you.

Guest arrival begins at 4:30PM, and the ceremony starts promptly at 5PM. The location can be a bit tricky to find, so we recommend leaving yourself some buffer time. If you arrive earlier than 4:30, you may need to wait until 4:30 before coming up to the roof, but there are plenty of places to hang out in Industry City nearby if you're killing time.

We love your children and plus-ones, but unfortunately due to space constraints, we are only able to include those listed on the invitation.

What the heck is a ceilidh?

A ceilidh is a Celtic social dance, common in the UK! There will be a "ceilidh caller" who explains each dance before we do it, so all you need to do is show up. It's a ton of fun, and everybody is learning at the same time, so you really don't need to know what you're doing to have a blast.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes, Brooklyn Grange is wheelchair accessible and has an elevator. Please note that non-motorized wheelchairs generally do better in the space due to the dirt and stone pathways crisscrossed by irrigation lines. Street parking and paid parking garages are also available nearby. Unfortunately the parking lot in front of the venue is reserved for retail businesses.
